Background
Jennifer began her legal career in Asheville, North Carolina where she worked as an associate attorney with Robert E. Riddle, who was a North Carolina Family Law Specialist and Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Jennifer returned to Wake County to practice law in 2006 to be closer to her family. In recognition of her exclusive focus on family law and after passing a rigorous exam administered by the North Carolina State Bar, Jennifer became a board-certified specialist in family law in 2009 and was re-certified in 2015 and 2020.
Jennifer is originally from Zebulon, North Carolina. Excelling academically, Jennifer graduated cum laude from North Carolina State University with a bachelor of arts in Sociology. After working as a paralegal for two years, Jennifer then pursued her law degree, enrolling at North Carolina Central University School of Law. There, she continued her academic excellence, graduating cum laude and was a member of the senior editorial staff at the North Carolina Central Law Journal. In 2003, Jennifer was awarded the Outstanding Family Student Award from the North Carolina Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Jennifer has been a member of Team in Training (the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s endurance sports training program) and completed the City of Oaks Half Marathon in 2008 and 2010. Jennifer is an avid animal lover and devoted aunt to her niece and nephew.
Jennifer is a member of both the Wake County Bar Association and the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. She has taught continuing legal education programs as well as written appellate court case summaries for the Family Forum, a newsletter for the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. In 2017, Jennifer co-authored Practical Skills for North Carolina Family Law Paralegals which was published by the North Carolina Bar Association.
